Bolzano is hosting the Italian version of the travelling exhibition “Registered, persecuted, annihilated: The Sick and the Disabled under National Socialism”, launched in Germany in 2014 by the German Association of Psychiatry DGPPN and completed by the additional section “Malati, manicomi e psichiatri in Italia: dal ventennio fascista alla seconda guerra mondiale”, which strongly invites to reflect on inhumanity by remembering the specific persecution of the mentally illness. The school project “Mai più” is linked to this exhibition and is supported by the European Union, within the strand “Europe for citizens”. During the 1st Symposium of the project in Bolzano representatives of the partner countries, historians, psychiatrists and college students will reflect in a critical way on the appropriate forms of Remembrance when facing the challenges of our present. During the implementation of the project, students from all Partners (17-18 years) will be involved in Educational workshops aimed at the de-stigmatization of mental illness. Students will realize short documentaries on the Human-Inhumanity theme or will realize researches on the condition of the mentally illness during totalitarianisms facing their national history and reconstructing the patients’ biographies. The results of these researches, workshops and video documentations will be presented during the Final Symposium in Milan.
